Ingredients
For the Bars:

3½ cups all-purpose flour

4 tsp baking powder

½ tsp kosher salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp almond extract
For the Topping:

2 Tbsp milk (any variety)

1 cup sliced almonds
For the Glaze:

2 cups powdered sugar

½ tsp almond extract

2 Tbsp milk (any variety)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13 inch baking pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then almond extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined into a dough.

Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

Brush the dough surface with 2 tablespoons milk, then evenly sprinkle sliced almonds on top.

Bake for 30–35 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

While bars cool, whisk together powdered sugar, almond extract, and 2 tablespoons milk to make the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze evenly over the warm bars. Let cool completely before slicing into squares.
