Description

These Bang Bang Chicken Sliders are the perfect balance of crispy, tender chicken and a spicy, sweet sauce, all sandwiched in a soft, mini bun. With a creamy bang bang sauce, crunchy lettuce, and a little kick of sriracha, these sliders make for an irresistible appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

For the Sliders:

  • 12 mini slider buns
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 1/2 cup pickles (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken:

    • Slice the chicken breasts into small pieces suitable for slider-sized portions.
    • In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken pieces to the buttermilk mixture and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the Breading:

    • In a shallow dish, combine the flour and panko breadcrumbs.
    • Once the chicken has marinated, dredge each piece in the flour-breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  • Fry the Chicken:

    • Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded chicken in batches for about 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Make the Bang Bang Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha sauce, honey, lime juice, and garlic powder until smooth.
  • Assemble the Sliders:

    • Lightly toast the slider buns.
    • Spread a generous amount of the bang bang sauce on the bottom of each bun.
    • Place a piece of fried chicken on each bun, followed by shredded lettuce, red onion, and pickles (if using).
    • Top with fresh cilantro for garnish and place the top bun on.

Notes

  • You can adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less sriracha to the bang bang sauce.
  • For a healthier option, try baking the chicken instead of frying it.
