- For the Bake:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 12 oz cheese tortellini, cooked according to package instructions
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- For Garnish:
- Fresh basil or parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, beef broth, dried basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked tortellini with the meat sauce mixture. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
