Description

A fruity twist on the classic Italian dessert, this Berry Tiramisu Trifle features layers of soft, soaked ladyfingers, a rich mascarpone cream, and a burst of fresh berries. It’s a delightful and refreshing dessert perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cream Layer:

  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Berry Mixture:

  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Layers:

  • 1 package ladyfingers (or sponge cake, cut into strips)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice or berry juice (for soaking the ladyfingers)

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Extra berries
  • Mint leaves
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Make the Cream Layer: In a mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to beat the ingredients until the mixture thickens and soft peaks form.
  • Prepare the Berry Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine mixed berries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Gently toss to coat the berries, allowing them to macerate for 10-15 minutes to release their juices.
  • Prepare the Ladyfingers: If using ladyfingers, quickly dip them into the orange juice or berry juice, one at a time, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  • Assemble the Trifle: In a large trifle dish or individual cups, layer the soaked ladyfingers, followed by a generous layer of the mascarpone cream mixture. Add a layer of the macerated berries on top of the cream, then repeat the layers (ladyfingers, cream, and berries).
  • Finish and Chill: After assembling, cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish with extra fresh berries, mint leaves, and a dusting of powdered sugar for an elegant finish.

Notes

  • You can substitute the ladyfingers with sponge cake if preferred.
  • For extra flavor, you can use flavored liqueurs like Grand Marnier or Amaretto in the soaking juice.
