Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Toss potato strips with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them out on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  • While the fries are baking, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned and cooked through.
  • Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
  • Mix in ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and chili powder. Simmer for 10 minutes or until thickened.
  • Once fries are done, place them on a serving platter. Top with the sloppy joe mixture.
  • Optionally, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and return to the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
