- 4 large russet potatoes, sliced into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Toss potato strips with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them out on a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
- While the fries are baking, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned and cooked through.
- Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
- Mix in ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and chili powder. Simmer for 10 minutes or until thickened.
- Once fries are done, place them on a serving platter. Top with the sloppy joe mixture.
- Optionally, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and return to the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
