Ingredients
Scale
For the Cocktail:
- 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
- 1 1/2 ounces silver tequila (or mezcal for a smoky twist)
- 3/4 ounce triple sec (or orange liqueur like Cointreau)
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup (or honey/agave syrup)
- 3–4 fresh mint leaves (optional, for extra freshness)
- Ice cubes
For Garnish:
- Extra blackberries
- Lime wedge
- Mint sprig
- Sugar or salt for the rim
Instructions
- Muddle the Blackberries and Mint:
- In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh blackberries and mint leaves (if using). Muddle (mash) them gently to release the flavors.
- Add the Liquids:
- To the shaker, add the silver tequila (or mezcal), triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup (or honey/agave syrup). Fill the shaker with ice.
- Shake and Strain:
- Shake well for about 10-15 seconds to chill and combine all the ingredients.
- Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice. You can use a fine mesh strainer if you want to remove any blackberry pulp.
- Prepare the Rim:
- For an extra touch, rim the glass with sugar or salt by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into a plate of sugar or salt.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish the drink with extra blackberries, a lime wedge, and a mint sprig. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more or less simple syrup or honey/agave syrup.
- For a smokier flavor, try using mezcal instead of tequila.
- Feel free to muddle additional mint leaves for more mint flavor.
