Description

This refreshing Blackberry Margarita Smash is a vibrant twist on the classic margarita, with the sweet-tart flavor of fresh blackberries and a hint of mint. Perfect for summer, it’s easy to make and bursting with bold flavors. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool or hosting a gathering, this cocktail will add a refreshing pop to your evening.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cocktail:

  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1 1/2 ounces silver tequila (or mezcal for a smoky twist)
  • 3/4 ounce triple sec (or orange liqueur like Cointreau)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup (or honey/agave syrup)
  • 34 fresh mint leaves (optional, for extra freshness)
  • Ice cubes

For Garnish:

  • Extra blackberries
  • Lime wedge
  • Mint sprig
  • Sugar or salt for the rim

Instructions

  • Muddle the Blackberries and Mint:
    • In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh blackberries and mint leaves (if using). Muddle (mash) them gently to release the flavors.
  • Add the Liquids:
    • To the shaker, add the silver tequila (or mezcal), triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup (or honey/agave syrup). Fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake and Strain:
    • Shake well for about 10-15 seconds to chill and combine all the ingredients.
    • Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice. You can use a fine mesh strainer if you want to remove any blackberry pulp.
  • Prepare the Rim:
    • For an extra touch, rim the glass with sugar or salt by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into a plate of sugar or salt.
  • Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish the drink with extra blackberries, a lime wedge, and a mint sprig. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more or less simple syrup or honey/agave syrup.
  • For a smokier flavor, try using mezcal instead of tequila.
  • Feel free to muddle additional mint leaves for more mint flavor.
