Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until well coated with flour.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and egg until combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
