Description

These festive Cherry Mitten Hand Pies are a delicious and fun treat perfect for the holiday season! Made with sweet cherry filling and a buttery pie crust, they are shaped like cozy mittens and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a holiday dessert or a winter snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix together the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Roll out the pie crusts and cut out mitten shapes using a cookie cutter.
  • Place a spoonful of the cherry mixture onto half of the pie crust shapes.
  • Top with the remaining pie crust shapes and crimp the edges with a fork to seal the pies.
  • Brush the hand pies with the egg wash (egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water).
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • If you don’t have a mitten-shaped cookie cutter, you can use a simple round or heart-shaped cutter for a different twist.
  • For a more golden finish, brush the pies with the egg wash before baking.
  • These pies can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
