Description

Chicken Marsala is a classic Italian dish featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a savory mushroom and Marsala wine sauce. The rich flavors of butter, olive oil, and wine create a delicious sauce that perfectly complements the chicken. Simple yet elegant, it’s perfect for a weeknight dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup Marsala wine
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • Dredge chicken in flour and shake off excess.
  • In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  • Cook chicken in the butter and oil mixture over medium heat until browned on both sides.
  • Remove chicken and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and olive oil.
  • Add mushrooms and sauté until browned.
  • Pour Marsala wine and chicken broth into the skillet.
  • Return chicken to skillet and simmer until chicken is cooked through.
  • Garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, let it simmer a bit longer to reduce the liquid.
  • You can substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth if preferred.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or pasta to soak up the delicious sauce.
