A quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender flank steak, colorful bell peppers, and a savory soy sauce-based sauce. This easy recipe is perfect for a weeknight dinner, served over rice or noodles.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, water, cornstarch, sugar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the flank steak slices and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the sliced bell peppers and onion, cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until softened.
  • Pour the soy sauce mixture into the skillet and stir to coat the steak and vegetables evenly.
  • Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

For added flavor, you can drizzle with a bit of sesame oil or top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
