Scale
- 1 pound beef top sirloin steak
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 red onion, cut into 1-inch squares
- 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
- 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Slice the Beef:
Slice the beef top sirloin steak into 1/2-inch thick strips across the grain to keep it tender. - Prepare the Marinade:
In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, white sugar, cornstarch, and ground ginger until smooth. - Marinate the Beef:
Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes. - Sear the Beef:
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the marinated beef in batches until browned, about 3 minutes per batch. Transfer to a bowl. - Add Vegetables:
Return the wok to heat and add another 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir-fry the red onion until it softens, about 2 minutes. - Incorporate the Bell Pepper:
Add the green bell pepper and stir-fry until vibrant and tender, about 2 minutes more. - Blend in the Tomatoes:
Add the tomato wedges and stir for about 2 minutes until warmed through. - Combine and Serve:
Return the beef to the wok, tossing everything together to heat through.
