Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add milk, coffee, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.
- Remove doughnuts from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- You can add chocolate chips or chunks to the batter for extra chocolatey goodness.
- If you don’t have a deep fryer, you can fry the doughnuts in a pot with enough oil to submerge them.
- Be careful not to overcrowd the fryer, as this can cause the doughnuts to cook unevenly.
