Ingredients
Scale
For the Cake:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup melted butter
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Topping:
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup softened butter
For the Glaze:
- 5 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare Cake Batter: In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the melted butter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Make and Apply Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Mix until smooth. Drop spoonfuls of the topping mixture over the batter. Use a butter knife to gently swirl the topping into the batter.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 28-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Prepare and Apply Glaze: While the cake is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Set aside. Once the cake is out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over the warm cake.
Notes
- For added texture, consider folding in chopped nuts or raisins into the batter before baking.
