Description

This Classic Baked Ziti with Italian Flavors is a comforting and hearty dish perfect for family dinners or gatherings. Packed with savory marinara sauce, creamy ricotta cheese, and a melty cheese blend, this baked pasta dish is a crowd-pleaser that delivers rich, homemade flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef (or Italian sausage) and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the marinara sauce and add the dried oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  • In a 9×13 baking dish, layer the cooked pasta, meat sauce, and cheese mixture. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a subtle kick.
  • If you prefer, you can use Italian sausage instead of ground beef for a more traditional flavor.
  • To make it ahead, assemble the dish and refrigerate it. Just bake it for a bit longer when you’re ready to cook.
