Description

Indulge in layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella in this classic Tuscan lasagna. Perfect for family gatherings or a cozy night in.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic. Drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce.
  • In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, chopped basil, and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer cooked lasagna noodles, meat sauce, and the ricotta cheese mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

Let the lasagna sit for about 10 minutes before slicing for easier serving.
