- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2–3 bananas)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar (for cream cheese layer)
- 1 egg (for cream cheese layer)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, beat melted butter and 1 cup of sugar. Add eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
- In another bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 egg until smooth.
- Pour half of the banana bread batter into the loaf pan, spread the cream cheese mixture on top, and then add the remaining banana bread batter.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in walnuts or chocolate chips.
