Creamed Spinach, Bacon, and Mushrooms

Description

A rich and flavorful side dish, this creamed spinach with crispy bacon and tender mushrooms is a perfect addition to any meal.


Ingredients

For the Dish:

  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 10 oz fresh spinach
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add butter and sauté the onion and garlic until softened, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes until browned and tender.
  • Stir in the fresh spinach, allowing it to wilt, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour in the heavy cream, then add the Parmesan cheese. Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg, if desired.
  • Return the crispy bacon to the skillet, mix, and serve warm.

Notes

This dish pairs wonderfully with grilled meats or can be enjoyed on its own!
