- 8 ounces medium cheddar cheese, shredded
- 8 ounces extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, white pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Stir constantly to form a roux and cook for about 2 minutes.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, then stir in the shredded cheddar cheeses until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the sauce, stirring until well combined.
