Description

This creamy smoked sausage pasta is the perfect comforting meal, combining tender penne pasta, smoky sausage, and a rich, velvety sauce made with heavy cream and mozzarella cheese. Easy to make and packed with flavor, it’s a weeknight dinner that will impress.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add diced onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3 minutes.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream, mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Continue to simmer the sauce until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the cooked pasta and sausage back into the skillet, tossing to coat everything in the creamy sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute the smoked sausage with any other sausage of your choice.
  • For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
