Description

A hearty and flavorful slow-cooked dish combining Italian sausages, colorful bell peppers, and onions simmered in a rich marinara sauce. Perfect for an easy, satisfying meal served in buns or over pasta.


Ingredients

  • 4 red bell peppers, sliced

  • 4 green bell peppers, sliced

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

  • ½ tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1¼ cups marinara sauce

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter

  • 2 (19-ounce) packages Italian sweet sausages

  • Hot dog buns or cooked pasta, for serving


Instructions

  • Layer the sliced peppers and onion at the bottom of the slow cooker.

  • Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.

  • Pour marinara sauce over the vegetables.

  • Place the sausages on top of the sauce and vegetables.

  • Dot with butter.

  • Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 3–4 hours until sausages are fully cooked and vegetables are tender.

  • Remove sausages, slice them, and return to the slow cooker.

  • Serve in buns or over cooked pasta.

  • Substitute with hot Italian sausages for a spicier flavor.
