Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (16 oz) box ziti pasta
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the meat is browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the basil, oregano, marinara sauce, and water. Mix well.
  • In a slow cooker, layer the meat sauce, uncooked ziti pasta, and both mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the pasta is tender and the cheese is melted.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef for a lighter version.
  • If you prefer a crispy top, you can sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese on top during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
  • Be sure to stir the ingredients halfway through if you want more even cooking.
