Description

A delicious and easy twist on traditional lasagna, this crockpot dish layers savory Italian sausage, cheesy ravioli, and rich marinara sauce for a comforting meal with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat and transfer the sausage to a plate.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened.
  • Add the marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, basil, and oregano to the skillet. Stir well to combine and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • In a crockpot, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce mixture on the bottom.
  • Layer frozen ravioli over the sauce, followed by a layer of ricotta cheese, then a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the ravioli are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can incorporate spinach or other vegetables into the layers.
  • Ensure to stir gently before serving for even distribution of flavors.
