Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cups cabbage, shredded
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili paste (optional, for heat)
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat sesame oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Once the beef is browned, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the shredded cabbage and stir well, cooking until the cabbage is tender, about 4-5 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili paste (if using), and sugar. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
- Serve hot with rice or noodles, or enjoy as-is for a low-carb option.
Notes
- Adjust the level of chili paste to your preferred spice level.
- For a more authentic touch, add a splash of Chinese cooking wine or Shaoxing wine.
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
