Description

This Easy Cream Cheese Chicken is a flavorful, creamy dish with tender chicken breasts in a smooth, savory sauce made from cream cheese, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Quick and simple, it’s perfect for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Fresh chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Microwave the cream cheese until very soft. Cut it into smaller pieces and set it aside.
  • Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create 4 thinner pieces. Season both sides with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat the butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden and fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  • Reduce the heat to medium, then add the chopped onion to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and lightly browned.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Add the chicken broth, cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir until the sauce is smooth, which may take a few minutes.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and warm through. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash more chicken broth to reach your desired consistency.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with extra salt and pepper, if needed. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • ou can add extra seasoning or herbs for more flavor.
  • This dish pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
  • If you want a spicier version, increase the amount of crushed red pepper flakes.
