- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 medium carrots, shredded
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Optional: sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onion softens.
- Add the shredded carrots and sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, until the cabbage wilts and the carrots soften.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Pour this mixture over the meat and vegetables in the skillet, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- If desired, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- This dish is easily customizable. Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
- For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
