For the Beef:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 2/3 cup water
For the Nachos:
- 1 large bag tortilla chips
- 1 can (15 oz) refried beans, warmed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup salsa or pico de gallo
- 1/4 cup guacamole
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the taco seasoning mix and water to the skillet. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
- Assemble the Nachos:
- Spread a layer of tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet or oven-safe platter.
- Spoon the warmed refried beans over the chips.
- Add the seasoned ground beef on top of the beans.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses evenly over the beef.
- Bake:
- Place the assembled nachos in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Add Fresh Toppings:
- Remove the nachos from the oven and immediately top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, sliced jalapeños (if using), and chopped green onions.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Dollop sour cream, salsa or pico de gallo, and guacamole over the top of the nachos.
- Serve immediately while hot and enjoy!
