Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- Green food coloring
- Red heart sprinkles
- White candy melts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the peppermint extract and egg, and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Add green food coloring to the dough, a few drops at a time, until you reach your desired shade of green.
- Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Gently press a red heart sprinkle into the center of each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the cookies are set.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cookies have cooled, melt the white candy melts according to the package instructions. Drizzle the melted candy over the cooled cookies to create the Grinch’s “fur”.
Notes
- For extra holiday flair, you can also add a few mini chocolate chips or holiday-themed sprinkles to the dough.
- The cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- If you don’t have white candy melts, you can use white chocolate chips as a substitute.
