Description

  • 4 white fish fillets (cod or haddock)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup beer or sparkling water
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
  • Oil for frying
  • Malt vinegar for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in beer until smooth.
  • Coat fish fillets in the batter and fry for 5-6 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Fry potatoes in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve fish and chips with malt vinegar on the side.
