Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 8 oz block of mozzarella cheese, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and salt.
- In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- Place the flour in a third shallow dish.
- Dredge each piece of mozzarella in the flour, dip in the beaten eggs, then coat in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Place the coated cheese bites on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to ensure they hold their shape when frying.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
- Fry the cheese bites in batches for about 1-2 minutes, until golden brown.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure the cheese bites are frozen before frying to prevent the cheese from melting out.
- If you don’t have a deep fryer, you can also fry them in a large pan with about 2 inches of oil.
- For a twist, try using a different dipping sauce like ranch or a spicy marinara.
