Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the egg, then mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter will be slightly lumpy.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, forming small clusters. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Once all the bites are fried, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
