Ingredients
Scale
- For the Steak Bites:
- 1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- For the Mash:
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Steak Bites:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the beef pieces with salt and pepper.
- Add the beef to the skillet in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium.
- Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the butter until melted and combined with the garlic. Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Prepare the Mash:
- While the steak is cooking, place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add milk and butter to the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve:
- Serve the garlic butter steak bites over the creamy mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using beef broth in the garlic butter sauce. Adjust the garlic and seasoning according to your taste preferences.
