- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup colored sugar or sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream Butter & Sugar:
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until combined.
- Shape Cookies:
- Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a fork or your fingers. If using, sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden brown.
- Cool:
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
