Description

This flavorful grilled tandoori chicken is marinated in a spiced yogurt mixture that infuses each bite with the perfect balance of heat and aroma. Perfect for grilling season, this dish delivers a juicy, tender chicken with a rich, zesty flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, black pepper, ginger, and salt. Stir in the chicken pieces until well coated. Cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat the grill for high heat.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken onto skewers, and discard marinade. Grill until juices run clear, about 5 minutes on each side.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts if you prefer a juicier cut of meat.
  • If you don’t have skewers, you can grill the chicken directly on the grill grate.
  • Pair with a fresh salad or naan bread to complete the meal.
  • For a spicier version, increase the cayenne pepper to taste.
