Description

This Hamburger Potato Casserole is a hearty and comforting dish featuring layers of seasoned ground beef, creamy mushroom soup, and cheesy sliced potatoes. Perfect for family dinners, it’s both delicious and easy to prepare.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
    • Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
    • Drain any excess fat.
  • Layer the Casserole:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
    • In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
    • Top with half of the cooked ground beef mixture.
    • Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef and potatoes.
    • Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
    • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, soup mixture, and cheese.
  • Bake:
    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving for a convenient family meal.
