Description

Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy are savory and juicy, topped with a rich and flavorful onion gravy. Perfect for a comforting and satisfying meal!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Hamburger Steaks:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined. Form into 4 patties.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until the onions are caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle flour over the onions and cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Gradually stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon the onion gravy over the top. Simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Serve the hamburger steaks with onion gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine to the gravy. These hamburger steaks are perfect for a hearty, comforting meal!
