Description

These Hawaiian Meatballs are a flavorful and easy dish combining savory meatballs with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, bell peppers, and pineapple. Perfect for a quick dinner or as a fun appetizer, serve them over rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds for a tropical twist!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 25 frozen meatballs
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 12 bell peppers, cut into chunks (red and orange preferred)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pineapple chunks (reserve 23 Tablespoons juice)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger (optional) For serving:
  • Rice
  • Sliced green onion
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  • In a large skillet or pan, heat the frozen meatballs over medium heat, following package instructions until they are fully cooked and heated through.
  • While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine BBQ sauce, pineapple juice, and ground ginger (if using).
  • Add the bell pepper chunks and pineapple chunks (with the juice) into the skillet with the meatballs. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the meatballs and vegetables.
  • Stir everything to coat evenly and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the bell peppers are tender.
  • Serve the Hawaiian meatballs over rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and crunch.

Notes

  • You can use fresh meatballs if preferred, or make your own for a more customized dish.
  • Adjust the level of sweetness by using a mild or spicy BBQ sauce depending on your taste.
  • For extra flavor, you can also add chopped cilantro or a squeeze of lime juice before serving.
