Description

This flavorful herb-marinated cheese is a delicious appetizer, perfect for serving with crackers or crusty bread. The combination of garlic, fresh herbs, and olive oil makes the cheese irresistibly savory and aromatic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz block of your favorite cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, goat cheese, or a blend)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cut the cheese into bite-sized cubes and place in a shallow dish.
  • In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, olive oil, basil, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the herb mixture over the cheese and toss gently to coat.
  • Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to marinate and infuse the cheese.
  • Serve the marinated cheese with crackers or crusty bread for a delightful snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • Cheese Variety:
You can use any cheese you like for this recipe. Soft cheeses like goat cheese or mozzarella will absorb the flavors quickly, while firmer cheeses like cheddar or gouda will hold up well and offer a stronger flavor. Feel free to mix different types of cheese for a more complex taste.
  • Herb Substitutions:
If you don’t have fresh herbs, you can substitute dried herbs. Use about 1/3 of the amount (e.g., 1 tsp dried basil, rosemary, and thyme). Fresh herbs give the marinade a vibrant, fresh flavor, but dried herbs work well too.
  • Storage:
The marinated cheese can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. If you’re preparing it ahead of time, it actually gets better as it marinates!
