Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Heat the milk until warm, then add sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and butter. Mix until dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Roll out dough and cut into donut shapes. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C) and fry donuts until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Coat donuts in powdered sugar while still warm.
Notes
- You can add a glaze instead of powdered sugar for a traditional Krispy Kreme finish.
- For a lighter doughnut, ensure the oil temperature is accurate when frying.
- Make sure the dough is thoroughly kneaded for the best texture.
