Description

Enjoy the soft and fluffy texture of homemade Krispy Kreme doughnuts, fried to golden perfection and glazed with a sweet, vanilla coating. These irresistible doughnuts are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet treat any time of the day!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Oil, for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, warm the milk until it reaches about 110°F. Pour the warm milk into a mixing bowl and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add sugar, eggs, and melted butter to the yeast mixture and mix well. Gradually add in the flour and salt until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter or a glass and a shot glass for the center hole.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F. Fry the doughnuts for about 1 minute on each side until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Dip each doughnut into the glaze and let set before serving.

Notes

  • You can use a doughnut cutter or a glass and shot glass to create the perfect doughnut shape.
  • Make sure the oil temperature is at 350°F for best frying results.
  • For an extra touch, try adding a little cinnamon or other flavoring to the glaze.
