Description

Honey Garlic Chicken is a savory-sweet dish that combines tender chicken with a rich, flavorful sauce made from honey, garlic, and soy sauce. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, bringing bold flavors and a touch of sweetness to your dinner table. Serve with rice or vegetables for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Chicken thighs or breasts (your choice)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ginger (optional)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken:

    • Season the chicken thighs or breasts with salt and pepper.
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Stir in the honey, soy sauce, and optional ginger. Bring to a simmer, allowing the sauce to cook for about 3-4 minutes.
    • If you’d like a thicker sauce, dissolve cornstarch in a small amount of water and add it to the skillet, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  • Combine Chicken and Sauce:

    • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, turning it in the sauce to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavor of the sauce.

  • Serve:

    • Garnish with green onions, if desired, and serve hot with your choice of side, such as rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • You can use chicken thighs for a juicier dish or chicken breasts for a leaner option.
  • To add some heat, sprinkle in a pinch of red pepper flakes while making the sauce.
  • For extra flavor, try marinating the chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
