  • Meat:

    • 1 lb chicken thighs or breasts

  • Produce:

    • 1 garlic clove, minced

    • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated

    • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

  • Condiments:

    • 1/4 cup honey

    • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • Baking & Spices:

    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

    • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Oils & Vinegars:

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil


Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken:
    If using chicken breasts, pound them to an even thickness for quicker and more even cooking. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

  • Cook the Chicken:
    In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 6-7 minutes per side (depending on thickness) until golden brown and cooked through. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
    In the same skillet, add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
    Stir in honey, soy sauce, and cornstarch (dissolved in a little water to create a slurry) to thicken the sauce. Stir frequently for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  • Combine Chicken with Sauce:
    Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Let it cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to ensure the chicken is well-glazed.

 

  • Garnish and Serve:
    Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions for garnish. Serve the honey garlic chicken over rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.

  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, increase the amount of cornstarch slightly or cook the sauce for an extra minute.
