Description

A decadent dessert that combines the best of cheesecake and strawberry shortcake in one easy-to-make dish. With layers of creamy cheesecake, sweet strawberry pie filling, and a buttery golden cake topping, this dump cake-style dessert is sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake Layers:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (The base for a golden, buttery topping)
  • 1 (21 oz) can strawberry pie filling (Adds a sweet and fruity layer)
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened (For the rich cheesecake layer)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (Sweetens the cream cheese mixture)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (Adds a hint of warm flavor)
  • 1/2 cup butter, sliced into thin pats (Ensures the top gets golden and crisp)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the strawberry filling, then gently spread it out with a spatula.
  • Evenly sprinkle the yellow cake mix over the top of the cream cheese layer, covering it as much as possible.
  • Scatter the thin pats of butter evenly over the cake mix layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as is, or top with whipped cream or fresh strawberries for extra indulgence!

Notes

  • This dessert can easily be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.
  • You can substitute the strawberry pie filling with any other pie filling of your choice, such as blueberry or cherry, for a different flavor profile.
  • For a touch of extra sweetness, drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce before serving.
