Description

Jack Skellington Oreo Pops are a fun and festive Halloween treat combining classic Oreo cookies with white and black candy melts to create the iconic face from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Easy to make and customizable, these pops are perfect for parties, themed events, or creative snacks for all ages.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Oreo Cookies (regular or chocolate, gluten-free optional)
  • White Candy Melts (quantity as needed for dipping)
  • Black Candy Melts or Black Chocolate (for decorating)
  • Lollipop Sticks (one per Oreo)
  • Wax Paper or Parchment Paper (for drying the pops)

Optional Flavor & Decoration Additions

  • Vegetable Oil or Shortening (to thin candy melts, optional)
  • Edible Glitter or Black Sugar Pearls (for garnish)
  • Peppermint or Vanilla Extract (to flavor white candy melts, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Arrange all ingredients and tools on a clean surface. Lay out wax paper or parchment paper to place the Oreo pops while drying and have your lollipop sticks ready.
  2. Insert Sticks into Oreos: Gently insert a lollipop stick into the cream filling of each Oreo by twisting slightly to avoid breaking the cookie. If a cookie cracks, set it aside and try again with a fresh one.
  3. Melt the White Candy Coating: Melt the white candy melts using a microwave or double boiler until smooth, stirring occasionally. If desired, add a small amount of vegetable oil or shortening to thin the coating and improve dipping.
  4. Dip Oreos in White Coating: Submerge each Oreo pop into the melted white candy melts, tapping off any excess gently. Place the dipped pops onto the prepared wax paper and let them set until firm but not completely hardened.
  5. Create Jack Skellington’s Face: Melt black candy melts or chocolate and transfer to a piping bag or small squeeze bottle. Carefully pipe Jack Skellington’s iconic eyes, nostrils, and stitched smile onto the white coating. Practice piping on parchment paper first to master the design.
  6. Let the Pops Set Completely: Allow the decorated Oreo pops to rest undisturbed until the candy coating hardens entirely, about 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use room temperature Oreos to reduce cracking when inserting sticks.
  • Thin candy melts with vegetable oil or shortening for easier dipping and smoother coating.
  • Work quickly as candy melts set fast.
  • Practice drawing Jack’s face on parchment paper before decorating the pops.
  • Insert sticks slowly and firmly to avoid cookie cracks without forcing them.
