Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla, and mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter or two different-sized round cutters.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  • Dip warm donuts in powdered sugar glaze and let them set before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, you can include a dash of nutmeg or cinnamon in the dough.
