- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter or two different-sized round cutters.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Dip warm donuts in powdered sugar glaze and let them set before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, you can include a dash of nutmeg or cinnamon in the dough.
