- 2 slices of your favorite bread
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. If using Dijon mustard, spread it on the unbuttered side of one slice.
- Mash the avocado and spread it evenly over the non-buttered side of one slice of bread. Season with salt and pepper.
- Layer shredded cheddar cheese on top of the avocado. Add tomato slices.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Place the sandwich in the preheated skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing.
Notes
- You can substitute whole wheat or sourdough bread for a healthier or tangier option.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes on the avocado.
