Ingredients
Scale
- 12 slices turkey bacon
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook the Bacon: Arrange the turkey bacon slices in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy. Remove from the oven and drain on paper towels. Once cool, chop into small pieces.
- Prepare the Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and continue to simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Combine Bacon and Caramel: Pour the chopped turkey bacon into the caramel sauce and stir until well coated.
- Cool and Set: Pour the bacon-caramel mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spreading it into an even layer. Allow it to cool completely until set.
- Break into Pieces: Once cooled, break the maple caramel bacon crack into pieces and serve.
