- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- For the Cheese Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups milk
- 1½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- For Assembly:
- 1 cup cheese curds (optional, for a classic poutine)
- 2 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Fries:
- Cook the French fries according to the package instructions. Season with salt and set aside.
- Make the Cheeseburger Topping:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles.
- Add chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the onions are softened. Set aside.
- Make the Maple Glazed Bacon:
- Cook bacon in a skillet until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Brush bacon with maple syrup and place under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to caramelize. Chop into pieces.
- Prepare the Cheese Sauce:
