Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large onion
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut into strips
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup bread crumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice the onion into rings and separate them.
- Cut the mozzarella into strips that will fit inside the onion rings.
- In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In another dish, beat the eggs.
- Dip each mozzarella strip into the flour mixture, then into the egg, and finally coat it with bread crumbs.
- Carefully place the coated mozzarella strips inside the onion rings on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add some dried oregano or Italian seasoning to the bread crumbs.
- If you prefer a deeper crunch, you can fry these instead of baking them, but baking keeps them a bit lighter.
- These mozzarella onion rings are best served hot and fresh with a side of marinara or ranch dipping sauce.
