Description

A quick and flavorful one-pot meal combining tender chicken, savory garlic, and sweet honey with noodles simmered in a delicious soy-based sauce. Perfect for a busy weeknight, this dish is easy to prepare and packed with comforting Asian-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 8 oz (225 g) noodles (lo mein or spaghetti)

  • 2 cups chicken broth

  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water

  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish)

  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.

  • In the same pan, add garlic and onion; sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

  • Stir in honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to combine.

  • Add the noodles and chicken broth to the pan. Bring to a simmer and cook until noodles are tender and have absorbed most of the liquid, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  • Return the cooked chicken to the pan and stir to combine.

  • Add the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water) to the pan and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  • Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken breast with thighs for a juicier result.

  • Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference or omit for no heat.

  • Use gluten-free soy sauce and noodles to make this dish gluten-free.

  • If noodles absorb too much liquid before cooking through, add more chicken broth as needed.
