Description

These hearty meatball sandwiches are made with fresh Italian meatballs, provolone cheese, marinara sauce, and topped with melted mozzarella. Perfect for a quick and comforting meal, these sandwiches are baked in the oven for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 packages Carando Abruzzese Fresh Italian Meatballs (adjust based on sandwich size)
  • 46 hoagie rolls
  • 46 slices provolone cheese
  • 12 oz marinara sauce
  • 6 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese & parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a large baking sheet with foil and place the meatballs about 1 inch apart. Bake for 15 minutes. Flip the meatballs and bake for another 14-17 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 185°F (85°C).
  3. Lightly grease a casserole dish with cooking spray. Place the hoagie rolls in the dish and line each with a slice of provolone cheese.
  4. Place cooked meatballs inside the rolls. Spoon marinara sauce over the meatballs and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake the assembled sandwiches for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  6. Broil for 2-5 minutes for a golden finish, if desired.
  7. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Air Fryer Option: To make these in an air fryer, cook the meatballs at 390°F for 15 minutes. Then assemble the sandwiches and air fry for another 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  • Feel free to use any type of Italian meatballs you like, or even homemade meatballs.
  • Add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce if you want to spice it up.
